How a handful of homesick families became a community that celebrates, supports and shows up for one another — right here in Guadalajara.
It began, as these things often do, with a shared longing. A few Bengali families, far from home and missing the festivals they grew up with, decided to celebrate together rather than apart.
That first gathering turned into a second, and then into a calendar of festivals, dinners and quiet evenings of song. Today the Bengali Association of Guadalajara is a warm, open community for anyone who loves Bengali culture — by heritage or simply by heart.
We are entirely volunteer-run. Everything you see happens because someone gave their time, their kitchen, or their weekend to make it possible.
A warm, welcoming home for Bengali culture in western Mexico — where every generation, from grandparents to grandchildren, feels it belongs.
Everything we do grows from a few simple commitments. We celebrate Bengali festivals and traditions the way we grew up with them — with authenticity and joy, and without cutting corners. And we bring the community together across generations and backgrounds, so that a student far from home and a family raising children here both find a place at the same table.
We welcome and support Bengalis who are new to Guadalajara and Jalisco, because the first months in an unfamiliar country are the hardest ones. And we share our culture — the language, the music, the food and the art — with our wider Mexican home, so the exchange runs warmly in both directions.
